The Hydrologic Cycle — These works painted a quattro mani (“with four hands”) reflect discussions originating from the Bass Connection Project at Duke, “Beauty and Balance,” which focuses on the role of the laws of physics in visual art. The vorticity and dynamism of the hydrologic cycle are expressed in these paintings in the style of futurism (in particular of Gerardo Dottori and Umberto Boccioni) and a bit of irony typical of surrealism.
